Andy and Brandon
Hok-si-la Park is located in Lake City, a one hour and fifteen minute drive from Minneapolis, and a 6 hours and 15 minute drive from Peoria. There are no direct flights from Peoria to Rochester (the closest airport to Lake City), but the drive from Peoria to Lake City is beautiful. Delta Airlines offers a direct flight from Peoria to Minneapolis, and many airlines offer direct flights from Chicago to Minneapolis.
There are several nice hotels just a 5-minute drive from Hoksila Park. These are some ideas that we already have some experience with. The venue is also only 20 minutes from Red Wing and one hour twenty minutes from the Twin Cities. Both feature most of the well known chain hotels as well as nice boutique hotels.
It's like staying in a cabin, but its actually a hotel. A bit higher end with views of Lake Peppin, and it's only 5 minutes from the wedding venue. We've not stayed here, but the reviews are good. The website is www.sleepalaska.com.
Lake City has a lot of great Bed and Breakfasts, condo and cabin rentals, and other unique and comfortable places to stay. Try airBnB or VRBO in and near Lake City for options.
This is your standard affordable hotel. No frills, older motel which could use some maintenance. A place to crash. Brandon and Andy have stayed there and it will suit your needs if you don't have a lot of needs. Their website is www.sunsetlc.com.
We have reserved 3 camp-style rustic sleep cabins (with heat and A/C!) and outdoor group campsites that are within walking distance of the reception. Let us know when you RSVP if you'd like to reserve space in either the cabins or the campsites.
Christian radio host Harold Camping said that the Rapture would begin on May 21, 2011. Andy threw a party to watch the world end and invited Brandon. We had a great time and the world didn't end. Republicans in Minnesota Legislature also passed a constitutional amendment onto the ballot that would ban marriage for people like Brandon and Andy, so it was mixed day.
These people have agreed to be a part of our wedding, and for that we are eternally grateful!
We've been together for 7 years and have built a great life together! That means we have most of the things we need to be happy. Instead of physical gifts, if you are moved to get us something for the wedding, consider helping us create memories that will last our lifetimes. Below are some ideas to help, or you can visit our honeymoon registry here.
